Color Graphics Increases Production

Salt Lake City-based Color Graphics Inc., a full-service print provider, increased its print production capacity when it recently installed a five-meter Durst Rho 500R superwide roll-to-roll UV-curingi inkjet printeri. Color Graphics is one of the first to acquire one of these units in the United States. Color Graphics is employing its new Rho 500R primarily for higher-end retail and P.O.P. applications. The Rho 500R prints six-color, 600-dpii images on a wide variety of roll media at speeds up to 4,300 square feet an hour.  -Read more-

Five HP Scitex Inks Approved by Nordic Swan

Five inkjet inks from HP Scitex—used for sign and display printing—have been added to the official list of those that meet the chemical requirements of the Nordic Ecolabel (also known as Nordic Swan) for print service providers (PSPs). PSPs that have been granted Nordic Ecolabel licensing for the production of printed matter have demonstrated that they fulfill a number of environmental requirements that make them some of the least polluting PSPs in the Nordic region printing industry. The Nordic Swan is an ecolabel used in the Nordic countries, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway. It was established in 1989 and is used mostly for groceries and cosmetic products.  -Read more-

Roland Partners with Corel

Digital printeri maker Roland DGA Corp., Irvine, Calif., in partnership with software developer Corel Corp., Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, announces that Corel’s new CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 now features Roland Color Libraries for contour cutting and spot colori matching, including the company’s entire metallic color library supporting new VersaCAMM and SOLJET metallic inkjet printeri/cutters. The addition of these libraries greatly simplifies the production process for Roland customers that design using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, the company says.

Sixth Show for TyrrellTech

Mutoh Teams With Fesler For Grand National

Wide formati printer maker Mutoh America, Phoenix, Ariz., teamed up with custom car builders Fesler Built, Scottsdale, Ariz., for the recent Grand National Roadster Show in Los Angeles. Mutoh donated prints to wrap the Fesler Rig for this eventi, and for the entire 2010 roadster trade show season. The wrap was done using a Mutoh ValueJet 1614 printer, and Avery MPI Supercast Easy Apply RS media, and laminated with Avery 1030 Digital Overlam. Mutoh says there will soon be HD video capturing footage of the graphic installation process completed on the Fesler Rig.  -Read more-

IFF Announces Innovation Award

The Industrial Fabrics Foundation (IFF), Roseville, Minn., announces that it will be offering an Innovation Award to inspire specialty fabrics industry companies to foster great ideas and put them into action. The award will be made available in three categories: Fabric, Hardware or Machinery, End Product and Process. Entries will be judged by textile professors and industry colleagues. The deadline to submit an entry is 16 July 2010. The winners will be announced at IFAI Expo Americas 2010, 27-29 October in Orlando, Fla.

GPA Employees Donate To Haiti Relief

Employees of specialty substrates and solutions provider GPA, Chicago, have generously pulled together their resources to make a $5,000 donation to assist in the reliefi efforts after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. All employee contributions were matched by GPA as part of the company’s ongoing philanthropic focus. GPA selected the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund (CBHF) to handle the distribution of the company’s donation. The fund was created by President Obama, enlisting the support of former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W.  -Read more-
