Salt Lake City-based Color Graphics Inc., a full-service print provider, increased its print production capacity when it recently installed a five-meter Durst Rho 500R superwide roll-to-roll UV-curingi inkjet printeri. Color Graphics is one of the first to acquire one of these units in the United States. Color Graphics is employing its new Rho 500R primarily for higher-end retail and P.O.P. applications. The Rho 500R prints six-color, 600-dpii images on a wide variety of roll media at speeds up to 4,300 square feet an hour.

Five inkjet inks from HP Scitex—used for sign and display printing—have been added to the official list of those that meet the chemical requirements of the Nordic Ecolabel (also known as Nordic Swan) for print service providers (PSPs). PSPs that have been granted Nordic Ecolabel licensing for the production of printed matter have demonstrated that they fulfill a number of environmental requirements that make them some of the least polluting PSPs in the Nordic region printing industry. The Nordic Swan is an ecolabel used in the Nordic countries, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway. It was established in 1989 and is used mostly for groceries and cosmetic products.
