Arkwright Advanced Coating Inc, Fiskeville, R.I., a manufacturer and distributor of coated papers, films and specialty media for digital imaging technologies, announces it has received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody certification under the Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Forest Conservation Program. Products that carry the FSC logo are manufactured from papers made with cellulose from responsibly managed forests.


The European graphics trade show FESPA 2010—scheduled for June, 22–26 in Munich Germany—announces the addition of "FESPA Fabric," a special eventi to be held during the show that showcases innovation in garment decoration. The event, which will occupy its own hall at the exhibition, will be more than 30 percent bigger than previous garment decoration zones within FESPA shows. Visitors to FESPA Fabric will see the latest advances in manual and automatic screen printingi, digital direct-to-garment technology, drying and heat transferi technology, laseri cutting and design software.

As more UV curingi inkjet printers come to market, the safety aspects of these new inks and printing systems need to be understood by those considering a purchase. To protect both production workers and print customers, safeguards must be put in place. The major safety issues with UV-curable inks, unlike solventi printers’ flammability and high levels of vapors, are skin irritation, inhalation of reactive materials from the printing and curing process, and eye damage.
